Navman Wireless is adding speed gauge powered speed monitoring to their fleet systems. It is a handy device to add to the tracking solutions fleets already have as it means more control over potential bad driver behaviour. Navman Wireless is offering a new product that will work in partnership with SpeedGauge. The second company is a provider of speed management devices for fleet companies.

The new option will be available in the US and Canada at first, but if successful more companies including those in the UK may be able to take advantage of these new choices. Fleet operators will at least be able to reduce risk, maintenance costs, and fuel consumption. It will help because the GPS vehicle tracking solutions are meant to detect any violations of speed whether it is posted limits or company policies. In this way the company will know if there is any driver not adhering to the policies or laws. They can retrain the driver if need be, issue a warning, or terminate employment.

The service will be an extra subscription add-on to the vehicle tracking already in place. Users will be able to set the thresholds they want for the entire fleet of cars, trucks, and other vehicles they have in the company. There can be limits for private roads as opposed to highway driving too.  With the product companies will have a way to create custom speed zones and geofencing.

A lot of the parameters of the new system are something that is already known as benefits of vehicle tracking. It is now a part of speed too. Rather than using geofencing for where a vehicle is allowed to go it can be used for speed zones. It is an inventive way to add to a company’s ability to keep the roads safe.

Keeping the roads safe is important not only for fleet drivers, but anyone who is on them. When drivers have bad behaviour it can mean dangers exist for the company and anyone else on the roads.

Speeding is also one way to increase the use of fuel in a company. By limiting the speed vehicles can go companies can save thousands of pounds each year.
